Hello Everyone!
While the Admissions Committee is making their decisions on whom to admit to the Class of 2016, and the Harvard Basketball Varsity it getting ready to play in the NCAA tournament, juniors in high schools all around Nevada are filling out their Harvard Prize Book applications.
Las Vegas area alumni, please Save the Date: Tuesday, April 17th from 6-8 pm at Park Towers for our Annual Reception to honor our Prize book winners and students who have been admitted to the Harvard College Class of 2016. [Note: This year's reception is on Tuesday evening, not the usual Thursday evening!]
Reno area alumni, please Save the Date: Tuesday, April 24th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Montreux Golf and Country Club.
Two local student athletes were already admitted to Harvard College during the Early Action admissions process, a swimmer from Coronado High School and a tennis player from Green Valley High School. Other candidates are being evaluated this week and should hear an admissions decision shortly.
Over the past decade, the popularity of our Spring Reception and Prize Book Ceremony has grown vastly among students and educator throughout Nevada. Our ability as Harvard alumni to inspire local students to achieve both within and beyond the classroom, to explore unique college options and opportunities, and to gain more confidence in their futures has become immeasurable. The Spring Reception is an excellent opportunity for local alumni to reconnect with fellow alums, provide wonderful insights and information to local students, and support the best and brightest students in Nevada.
We hope everyone will support this event, whether or not, he or she can actually attend. Once again, we are asking for all alumni for sponsorships to cover the costs for the students attending and their guests. There are three categories of sponsorship: John Harvard ($750+), Crimson ($250-$749), and Scholar ($125 suggested). Each student is usually accompanied by four people, so we suggest a $125 contribution for the Scholar category.
