NEW Website online

Our new club website is up and running. We’re working out the final details for full functionality, but the site is ready for your review and participation.

The website address is:  harvardclubnevada.org (not .com, the site on which you are currently reading).

Members MUST register a username with the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA)  and login to post to the forums or read certain content reserved for local alumni members.

The credit card function on the new site is still being processed, so we CANNOT accept credit cards just yet; we hope to have this service available in the the next few weeks. Meanwhile, everyone who is currently registered as a Nevada alumnus/a in our databse, will be accepted for membership and allowed to use our site’s functions.

Please feel free to post to the various forums, give us feedback on what we can add to the site, and tell us when/how you would like to volunteer in the future.

Thank you.

New website soon

Members, we are in the process of moving our current website to a new server and program (Alumni Magnet) sponsored by the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA). Our domain name, http://www.harvardclubnevada, will not change. What you will see, once online, is a new, interactive website that will provide us with a range of new services and capabilities. Over the next few weeks, you may receive information on how to join or renew your membership to  the Harvard Club through the new website. Eventually, our email ring through the yahoogroups service will be phased out and the new Alumni Magnet portal will serve as our primary communications tool.

We are excited to take our club website to a higher level of sophistication and effectiveness. Until our transition, please feel free to check back here regularly for updates on our progress.

Have a great day.

Hello Harvard Club of Nevada Alumni and Friends!

We have enjoyed a terrific response to the October 3rd Downtown Project Tour & Evening with Tony Hsieh event, and we look forward to your joining us for this wonderful social, educational, and networking event.

Location/Parking: The event will be held the El Cortez Hotel at Fremont & 6th Streets [600 E. Fremont, LV 89101].  Please valet park at the El Cortez Hotel; additional valet parkers have been added to accommodate attendees. Valet parking is located at the main entrance on 6th Street. After parking, you will be directed to the Lobby of the Ogden building where the Downtown Project Tours will begin.

Arrival:Please arrive between 5:15-5:30pm if possible. The Downtown Project tours will begin promptly at 5:30pm. We expect to have three groups of attendees taking the tour that evening.  Food and drinks will begin at 6:00pm.

Reception/Networking: The Tour(s) will end near Jackie Gaughan Plaza (located right across the street from the main entrance to the El Cortez Hotel), where we are creating a street festival atmosphere for the presentation and reception.  There will be a DJ, gourmet food trucks, and a cash bar.  Please bring a little cash or credit card to enjoy the food and beverages.

Food:  One truck serves gourmet sausage sandwiches and hand-cut fresh fries. The second truck, a featured concession at the recent Vegas Uncorked Event and truck #1 on the red carpet at the Bellagio, serves a variety of southern comfort options.  Most food offerings cost under $10 and will be served both following the tours and Tony Hsieh’s presentation. The El Cortez is also providing fruit and cheese platters for your enjoyment. Plenty of outdoor seating will be available. Please dress comfortably and casually for the event.
Presentation: Mr. Hsieh’s presentation will begin promptly at 7:00pm, again in an outdoor area.

Book signing:  Tony has generously agreed to sign your copy of Delivering Happiness, with your contribution of $50+ to the Harvard Club of Nevada Scholarship Fund.  Please make your check payable to: Harvard Club of Nevada and hand it in at the check-in table when you arrive.  Remember to bring your book! A limited number of books will be available at the check-in table on Wednesday.

If your schedule does not permit you to take a Downtown tour during this event on Wednesday, you may contact Krissee Danger at danger@downtownproject.com and she will arrange a private tour for you on another date. If you do contact Ms. Danger, please mention that you are part of the Harvard Club event.

In the event of excessive wind and/or rain [not expected], the presentation, food and fun will move into the Founders Room at the El Cortez Hotel. Weather will not affect the Downtown Project Tours.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, October 3rd!

Please email (hcnevada@post.harvard.edu) us if you have any additional questions.
